10 weeks old.

these past 10 weeks have been filled with emotions i have never experienced before... and i am grateful for every minute. john truly is a dream. a little love. i don't even know what my life was like before him... and can not imagine a life without him.

these past 10 weeks have also been extremely challenging. the lack of sleep, the loss of independence, the messy house, unorganized life, moments of feeling helpless, etc... coupled with the fact that i am heavier than i have ever been before all have triggered a whole new world of insecurities and frustrations.

the good news is that day by day things get easier. i am understanding him more and we are finally developing a good routine. my dear friend ali sent me her sleep schedule and so far it has worked wonders... last night he actually slept from 7 pm until 6:11 am (i did not sleep though... i wake up every 30 minutes or so just to make sure he is breathing)! and one of the best lessons i have learned so far is to let go of anything else that is going on in my life... it is amazing how having this baby has taught me something i have spent my entire life trying to learn - patience and peace.

eat | addendum

delicious, delicious, delicious is how i would describe addendum... thomas keller's newest "restaurant" located in yountville behind ad hoc (another favorite). open 11 am, thursday through saturday, they serve a limited menu of their famous fried chicken and bbq ribs/pulled pork with a few southern influenced sides.

i loved every bit of my lunch today.  however, i do have one tiny complaint -- they do not serve wine (i might have to sneak my own bottle in next time i go)!

the bathroom | before

as you know we are moving to my little casa over in alta heights in a few short weeks... and the list of things that need to be fixed/finished/updated is super long. but the one project that i more or less required to be done prior to moving in is the bathroom. the thought of living in a house with no toilet for 2 weeks is less than ideal!

my husband demolished the bathroom over the weekend (in the heat and on the 4th of july... thank you dear matt!). so if all goes well, we should have the bathroom completed by next week. the main thing that we need to figure out at this point is the sink and shower fixtures. we have spent hours online, going through magazines and in home depot looking for the right style (and within our budget... i have found several that i really want from waterworks, but i just could not justify spending that kind of money when i know we have a million other things to do to the house). i think we are going to venture outside of the valley this afternoon to look at fixtures at lowes... either way we need to make a decision by tonight in order to get things done in time for the tile guy!

moving soon...

the tenants moved out of my our house in alta heights last friday... so over the weekend my hardworking man started one of the many projects we are eager to get completed before we move in at the end of the month. he worked over there again last night, so baby john and i met him at the house with a picnic... which we enjoyed under the big oak trees in our "new" backyard. it was a dream!

will be posting more about our projects later today!
