10 weeks old.

these past 10 weeks have been filled with emotions i have never experienced before... and i am grateful for every minute. john truly is a dream. a little love. i don't even know what my life was like before him... and can not imagine a life without him.

these past 10 weeks have also been extremely challenging. the lack of sleep, the loss of independence, the messy house, unorganized life, moments of feeling helpless, etc... coupled with the fact that i am heavier than i have ever been before all have triggered a whole new world of insecurities and frustrations. 

the good news is that day by day things get easier. i am understanding him more and we are finally developing a good routine. my dear friend ali sent me her sleep schedule and so far it has worked wonders... last night he actually slept from 7 pm until 6:11 am (i did not sleep though... i wake up every 30 minutes or so just to make sure he is breathing)! and one of the best lessons i have learned so far is to let go of anything else that is going on in my life... it is amazing how having this baby has taught me something i have spent my entire life trying to learn - patience and peace.

we finally put together the little bassinet from argington! i just love it! a big thank you to angela over at bumrite diapers for the recommendation + helping us order it!

as i said before, we are not going to decorate his room until we move into our new (old) house in a few months. so for now we just have my old bed, dresser, bookcase + this bam bassinet in the room. a little crowded, but i think it works perfectly for the time being!

I was asked last week by a lady who I have worked with in the past (a very talented lady I might add) to photograph the opening of the new Poppy Store located in the Marin Country Mart. Originally, I had turned it down because I had too much on my plate... but when my schedule suddenly freed up, I was happy to hear that they had not filled the spot. Since it was a job that I was hired to do, I can't share those photos just yet... however, I will say it was such a lovely store to photograph... full of the most precious children's clothing I have ever seen. So darling, I could not resist spending part of my paycheck right there on the spot (truthfully, I could have spent my entire paycheck, plus more... thank goodness I am not having a girl!!!).

{how can i not do cloth diapers? these are too adorable!}

I picked up some more cloth diapers yesterday at Bumrite Diapers here in Napa. I think I officially have a diaper addiction.

nursery inspiration | cribs.

We have about 13 weeks left and I am way behind on getting the nursery ready. At this point in time we have a stroller, an infant car seat, a bunch of hand-me-down 0-3 month old clothing from our little nephew and a good start to our cloth diaper stash (thank you to Angela over at Bumrite Diapers). Is the nursery still full of boxes from when I moved here? YES! Does it still need to be painted? YES! Have I ordered anything? NO! This is a big decision and I have a hard enough time picking out a flavor of ice cream at the grocery store... let alone a crib that I plan on using for one maybe two children (let's see how this first one goes). With that said, I know we need to make a decision on the furniture by this weekend (some pieces give an estimated ship date 10+ weeks out). So here are the four cribs that I have narrowed our (really my) choices down to.

I went up to St. Helena yesterday to look at lighting and get some test shots for a little project I am working on. Driving up there yesterday morning was a dream... the mustard is so beautiful, I felt like I was driving through a painting!! After my meeting I met some of my girlfriends for lunch at Rutherford Grill. Little Miss Paige sat next to me and shared some of my chicken and mashed potatoes. So cute to watch her as she is discovering solid foods... happy, happy girl!!

I have to say I am on the fence with regards to getting a rocker. Since this is my first baby I can't say whether or not I will use one. And I hate buying something I have no idea I will use. Half of me wants to just scrap the idea and get a twin sized bed instead. But in the back of my head I keep remembering a piece of advice I received recently from a friend who has three little ones. She said I should definitely get one, but splurge and make sure it is something that will look good outside of the nursery. Something I can use in the kitchen or living room after the baby is grown. Something that doesn't look like a rocker used for nursing (if that makes sense!) So... going with that bit of advice, I have compiled this lovely list of favorites below. I am currently leaning towards the Luxe Glider by Jennifer Delonge (no. 4) which I would cover in a flax colored linen (similar to no. 1). But, I have always wanted an excuse to buy the Eames Molded Rocker... and what better time than now!?

nursery inspiration | no. 1

I have been getting a lot of inquiries lately about how I plan on decorating the baby's nursery... and when I respond with -- simple, plain, white walls, soft fabrics, no theme, something the baby can grow in to... All I get in response is a blank stare accompanied by a long "oh." So it got me thinking that maybe I need to spend some time finding inspiration online and compile it together here, on iheartnapa for easy reference.  Below are some images that I feel best fit what has been floating around in my head... each image has a bit of what I want to incorporate into the nursery. Simple and clean, with a mixture of both modern and vintage pieces...

My week in photographs | 20 weeks

Hello and Happy Monday! This past week was definitely one filled with lots of excitement and holiday cheer! My mom, sister, uncle and I went to see the Nutcracker in San Francisco. It was as magical as always... and even more so because we were surprised with a backstage tour of the War Memorial Opera House about an hour before the curtain went up. I nearly cried it was so special. Below is a little snippet of what we saw including a few pictures from the Swanson Vineyards holiday party! Another magical event... filled with lots of yummy food (by the ever so delicious Dim Sum Charlie's) + Christmas Carols (courtesy of Mrs. Swanson).

Oh and of course the most exciting event of the week was finding out that we are having a boy in May!
